Lead Valve Technician

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Tear down valves, pipe fittings, flanges, bushings, bonnets, frac stacks, gate manifolds, flow iron pipe, pipe connectors
  2. Rebuild valves, plug catchers, sand knockouts, and manifolds
    • Identify proper stud, nut, ring gasket sizes for flange end connections
  3. Troubleshoot valves and chokes, identify problems, and repair defects
    • Read and understand drawings/plans and technical manuals which guide disassembly/reassembly and testing work
    • Select proper repair techniques
    • Inspect valves and flanges for leaks, flaws, and defects using high pressure testing equipment
  4. Perform Field Work as needed
    • Perform field repairs (stem packing, changing chokes)
    • Reassemble valves and specialized components at field job locations
    • Rig up and assist with field operations
  5. As the Lead-Hand, load and unload 18-wheeler truck trailers, flatbed trucks, and hot shot delivery trucks with valves, manifolds, and machinery/equipment

Education, Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years related experience and training

Certifications:

  • None

Required Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of valve repair techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of the use of using precision measuring and torqueing devices
  • Extensive knowledge of valve packing procedures and methods
  • Extensive knowledge of the suitability of various threads, flanges, and equipment working pressures; ability to identify types/sizes of threads and flanges
  • Familiarity with Rental Tool Management Systems (such as RTMS) is highly desirable
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend English
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to do basic operations of math including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
